Annual Appeal: Help Us Continue Our Mission

The mission of the Newport Public Education Foundation is to support programs that are not otherwise funded by the school budget. Each year, we award an average of $20,000 in grants to classroom teachers and community partners to provide innovative educational experiences to students in the Newport Public Schools.

We invite you to help us continue our mission.

In 2017, we gave enrichment grants to classroom teachers at Pell Elementary School, Thompson Middle School and Rogers High School for programs such as a lending library for English language learners and collaborative projects with organizations such as Save the Bay, Casey Farm and the Norman Bird Sanctuary. At Pell, we supported the social-emotional Open Circle curriculum for the second straight year, and at Rogers, we funded training for social workers seeking to implement an evidence-based social curriculum.

We continue to support our community partnership with the Newport Restoration Foundation, through which students from multiple grade levels produce artwork for display at Rough Point as part of the museum’s exhibits.

Despite the success that is evident throughout our district, Newport Public Schools continue to be challenged in many ways. Now more than ever, students and educators need our financial support to maintain a high standard of learning.

We ask for your help in funding our efforts. Donations may be submitted through the link below or by check made payable to Newport Public Education Foundation and mailed to 320 Thames St., Unit 1237, Newport, RI 02840.
